Introducing the Globethics Repository: A tailored, AI-enhanced platform for global ethics research
After a thorough strategic review of the Globethics Library, informed by the findings of a recent user survey, the decision was made to transform the platform from a global online library for ethical research, open to anybody in the world, into a more tailored, user-centric and service-oriented information and documentation centre. Now integrated into the Globethics Knowledge Hub as the “InfoDoc Unit,” it will focus on curating and managing Globethics’ own knowledge production, rather than the world’s open-access content.
The Library’s content has been carefully streamlined, removing the large volume of harvested OAI data and reorganised to align with the thematic priorities set out in the Globethics Strategy 2023–2027.
The new Globethics Repository now features the following core collections, consisting primarily of full-text documents:
- Globethics Publications
- Education and Research Ethics
- Governance and Business Ethics
- Peace and Justice Ethics
- Science and Technology Ethics
- Sustainability Ethics
- Cultural and Social Ethics
- Religious and Philosophical Ethics
InfoDoc, conceptualised under the leadership of the acting—soon to be retired—Head of Online Library, Andreas Waldvogel, is set to become the central reference point for the entire Globethics community. It provides high-quality information, documentation, and research support services tailored to the specific needs of Globethics users, including primarily:
- Globethics board members;
- Globethics staff, regional representatives, and affiliated consultants;
- Course instructors, trainers, students;
- Pool of experts;
- Authors publishing with Globethics;
- Affiliate entities and partners' board members and staff, and
- Alumni.
We are pleased to announce the launch of the new Globethics Repository, now live on a fully upgraded DSpace instance, powered by Atmire at: https://repository.globethics.net.
Formerly known as the Globethics Library, the Repository serves as the central digital hub for Globethics Publications and knowledge production. With a completely redesigned user interface, it offers fast access to featured items, intuitive navigation across collections, authors, and subjects, full-text filtering, and real-time statistical data in multiple formats. Most notably, AI-powered search recommendations make it easier than ever to explore and discover the depth of Globethics’ knowledge resources.
