Integrating Ethics in the National Higher Education System of El Salvador

Leer versión en español

Globethics, in collaboration with key academic institutions in El Salvador — the Dirección Nacional de Educación Superior (DNES), the Universidad Evangélica de El Salvador (UEES), and the Universidad Salvadoreña Alberto Masferrer (USAM) — successfully equipped individuals and institutions for more ethical leadership in higher education through the Integrating Ethics in the National Higher Education System of El Salvador project.

The first phase assessed ethical practices in higher education, identifying strengths and gaps in teaching, curriculum, and research ethics. This foundational work shaped a National Action Plan to embed ethics across the education sector. A comprehensive global and national assessment was presented to authorities and academic leaders, along with a practical guide to strengthen ethical governance.

A comprehensive global and national assessment of ethics in higher education in El Salvador was presented to authorities and academic leaders, along with a practical guide to strengthen ethical governance.

Through interactive in-person and virtual workshops, over 120 participants from institutions across the country engaged in applying these principles.

The sessions provided hands-on guidance for universities to implement the ethics manual, designed with a focus on new technologies to support responsible leadership.

As part of the project, a MOOC on Ethics in Higher Education attracted more than 750 participants, including students, teachers, and administrative professionals, achieving a very high level of satisfaction.
